THANKS!

I just wanted to say thanks to all the students and teachers and parents who have read my blog and responded to it! So many of you have asked questions, now I am going to try to answer some of them. I love my work, I love computers. When I am finished with my day at school I go home and work on my computer at home. That is where I do most of my experimenting and learning about new things. I love reading websites and creating them. While i am school, I teach 22 classes a week, that equals 591 students! I see so many children every week, that sometimes I may not remember your name! In addition to teaching all of those classes, I am also in charge of the PS71 Website. I love working on the website and learning all the new things about how to create a website with links and movies and podcasts. I hope you visit the website often and respond to the teacher's blogs. There are new postings every day. Pretty soon, we will all be creating our own webpages to share with every one. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

As We Move Along...

...in the school year my classes have been learning more and more about using computers in their school work. My classes have been using Microsoft Word to create documents and to save research notes. They have been introduced to appropriate use of the Internet for research and communicating. They enjoyed using Photo Booth to take pictures of themselves to inspire them in their writing. Ms. Munoz class has used the Internet to research stocks while they compete in the Stock Market Game. The classes have been introduced to the PS71 website and I am personally very happy that many have read and responded to my blog that is linked to the website. Please visit the website often because it will continually be updated . If you are interested in adding anything to the website, please let me know. Keep on reading and writing!

To all my wonderful students: The answer is YES! We will be doing Think.com this year. We will start in December if all goes as planned. I know everyone enjoyed Think.com last year and I expect we will be doing some really great work on it. Just remember that all writing and photos on Think.com must be appropriate for school so our school will not be blocked. Please continue to visit the PS71 website and to send comments to the teacher's blogs. If anyone has a suggestion for an article on the website...please let me know!

Website update

If you are reading this blog, chances are you got to it through a link from our PS71 website. Congratulations! There are some very exciting things happening at PS71 including updating the website which started in December of 2005. Most importantly is the Educator's page which is a listing of the teachers at the school who have published blogs. These are available to everyone to read and comment on. Teachers will be able to post information about their classes, homework, new events even links to important websites. Parents, teachers and students are all welcome to visit and read the blogs. I hope there will be many more to add, soon. Keep visiting and watch for all the changes.
